Paper Cuts Finale

Okay, I'm rushing things I know. I don't know when Tabby is going to start running MCAT(Misadventures of Callie and Tabby)
finally, but I had wanted to do one last Paper Cuts before then.
Considering the last one I ran made by me purely I used MSPaint, and I'm lacking the time now even for that within the forseeable future. I may as well just wrap it up on a pure text note. It's not like Paper Cuts had really been all that good to begin with. Why I have time to post but not work on this? Well if you hadn't noticed, I tend to just use a stream of conciousness unfiltered to how I do things here. Structure? We don't need no stinkin structure. Besides, to do anything else and play PR games, or be fake and posturing just defeats the purpose of what I want KP to stand for. Whether wrong or right, this place was built for free expression. Before this comes up, an interview with CBR made me realize I should clarify one point. This does not in any way shape or form have any commentary or connection to Marjorie Liu's current or previous X-23 run. Any meanings you draw out of it, are your own. So on with the (text albeit) finale.

"Of Ivory and Obsidian"
Written by Snowflakian

Some sit in their ivory towers in their arrogance looking down upon others.

Forgetting how the stones were chiseled, and the sweat on those that came before's brow.

Some toil in day to day hardships, looking upon the ivory shining brightly.

A beacon of relief, of escape, of rest.

Servants of the ivory follow their orders,

They swing their hammers at the base to prove how sturdy the tower will remain.

Others delight as the ivory splinters and cracks, awaiting the impending fall.

All the while one lone soul sits atop an obsidian tower hidden in the night.

Shaking their head while they watch on,

as the ivory masters proclaim sovereignty even when the tower falls under their own will,

under their callous words, orders, and actions.

While the obsidian, hidden in the night,

builds upon sweat from the lone master's brow.

Each block higher chiseled with care.

Each stone engraved with spirit.

The Spirit of those that built the ivory.

The builders' will the ivory masters had long forgotten.

A will though they tried, they could not steal or understand.

A will that is born within from humility without greed or vanity.

So closes the final door on Paper Cuts. May MCAT actually (please!) be good this time around. Only a handful more posts to go to catch up on all that I had promised. I've been assured once I do, I can actually continue on with the reviews (Daken's parts in Collision being the hang up right now, since somebody needs to have reviews of those done for inbetween the X-23 reviewed parts). Well, assuming I ever get around to putting the final part of the music entries up too at least. I'm also behind on solicits, and covers to add here. My apologies for that.

Paper Cuts Update

I just thought I'd clarify a few things real quick.

Tabitha isn't an artist. (She's a spoiled brat, but that's another matter entirely...) She's the writer of Paper Cuts. Callie will be the normal artist. Me? Well I've only done one released strip, the one with the Snowflake. Well, technicly two if you count the stall strip. They handle the rest. Paper Cuts is going to be The Misadventures of Callie and Tabby. The reason it has the name Paper Cuts will be explained in one of the future strips as well as why they are under that clover symbol with three objects in it. This is why they aren't under my Deviant Art account. They aren't always mine to do that with.

This first one is part of a 3 month gag Tabitha wanted to do. She's also yelling at me for messing up her genius about drawing comics is hard, and having the strip look like it wasn't drawn very well. (Like I said, spoiled brat...)

Since her two are done, Callie said she's handling the art on the next one. I guess they finally reached a compromise on things. (I say two, because Tabitha also did the November preview strip. Callie called her out on it.)

They just wanted to make sure I told everyone this, as before I was leaving their names as only the characters for their own protection. Callie also said she's refusing to make gumbo ever again since I referenced it. (Yay! Err, crap, forgot she reads here.)

And no, in real life, I don't treat them with the amount of disdain I aimed at that strip. Tabby asked for that deliberately and willingly so she can take open pot shots at me in later on strips. Which I agreed to. Keep in mind I get to read her scripts for the strip months in advance, and if I didn't want it on this blog, I wouldn't upload it. No, I'm not related to them or 'involved' with either of them, and yes they are sisters in real life as well as in the strip. Someday, if they give me the okay, I'll upload a comparison shot of their final designs to their real life counterparts.

Paper Cuts 0.33

Umm, Tabby apparently also forgot to draw in her own face among other problems with her sketch of Callie... (Did she really have to call her a poopy head? Yeah, umm, yeah. Nothing to see here, keep moving along. I'm going to get an ear full for this one as is, but a deal's a deal...)

Paper Cuts Preview 2.1

Here's the strip that was supposed to be on Christmas. Sorry for being 26 hours and 5 minutes late. To make up for it, it's now in color. Well it was in color to begin with anyway. Um, okay so I gots nothing to make up for it being late and having to restructure the panels because the other wasn't measured right. Oops. Anyway, enjoy.

Merry Christmas from Kinney Pride!

My apologies if this isn't your holiday. Next year, I'll work to improve on that here when I have the time. As it is, holidays are eating up a lot of time and I don't feel like being all politically correct today. So on with the pagan festivities!

If this is your holiday though, you're in for a treat...

It's Christmas morning, do you know where your gifts are? I'd hope so, but just in case, we here at Kinney Pride are offering our very own Christmas present. It's a very special second preview strip for the web comic before it starts its monthly debut in January on the 23rd of every month. The regular cast will be revealed then. I actually worked hard this time to present a modest more thought-provoking strip, and it's been exactly why I haven't posted anything recently. Any topic I wanted to cover was going to cover the same ground as it does, so the choice was made to kibosh all posts related until after this strip went live. Originally, I was going to go for something a bit more holiday obligatory, with Laura Kinney next to a christmas tree cutting the ribbon on her present... But since I seem to be making a few more waves than expected for the previous preview strip's usage, I decided to up the ante, and go for a more wintery feel instead that doesn't use her. Something this time that can't be misconstrued.

So without further ado I present to you the second preview strip as promised on Christmas Day.

Doh! Okay, sorry guys. It seems the page will have to wait until tomorrow to make its debut. Today is just too great a day to be sullied by such a depressing comic page as was planned.
So check back tomorrow evening, as the real second preview of Papercuts will be shown. Followed by posts explaining the sudden tonal shift, as well as many other planned entries that had to be pushed back because of this darn preview.

Happy Thanksgiving from KinneyPride!

What better way to give thanks for Marvel giving X-23 her own on-going, and having the character be healed and begin to grow into an even more independant young woman, than to have the first ever Paper Cuts one panel sneak peak today?

So anyone who has been wondering what it is. Here's just a small taste of what's to come. Mind you, this is just an early teaser, and does not reflect the final strip version or designs come January 23rd. It is just a sneak peak after all.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Be sure to check out Paper Cuts when it makes its second debut this Christmas, and then becomes a regular feature using its regular style and cast starting January 23rd!

Also, since the obligatory "Don't tase me bro!" joke is done, I'll never have to do it again. Giving thanks to that... Oh yeah, and of course my family, food, roof over my head, and bills being paid. All that jazz too.
